Former Barcelona youngster, Xavier Mbuyamba has said he is ‘truly blessed’ after Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel promoted him to first-team training.
The Dutch defender joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer during the reign of Frank Lampard.
It was reported that Lampard was about to integrate Mbuyamba into his first-team before he suffered a serious injury shortly after arriving at the club and was sidelined for most of the 2020-21 season.
However, he made his debut for Chelsea’s development side last April as a late substitute, scoring in a 3-1 win over Southampton U23.
Mbuyamba was called up to first-team training by Tuchel this week.
“A moment I’ve been working towards since joining this incredible club,” the 19-year-old said on Instagram.
“Truly blessed to be training with the first team this week. Lots to learn and my motivation is on another level right now!”
